Setting Yourself Up For Success
The first thing to remember? Pace yourself. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
That being said, here are a few tips to set you up for success!
- Be sure to block out 20-30 minutes for each section, and keep a notebook nearby for notes.
- This course is estimated to take 5-10 hrs total depending on your comfort and skill level.
- If you are "cherry picking," AKA choosing focus areas as needed and not in order, and find yourself needing more information to apply the training, simply back track to an earlier section. The information builds on and cross-references itself as we move through the course.
Next, gather the following for the next section:
- Have your business bank accounts logins ready
- Your EIN letter or EIN number (if registered)
- Your logo (if you have one)
- Have a notebook to jot down questions as you go through each training
Important Note Regarding EIN Numbers:
If you registered your business and cannot locate your EIN Number or letter, check your email as they usually email you a copy. If you still cannot locate it, you'll need to obtain a copy from the IRS.
To search for your EIN by calling the Business & Specialty Tax Line at 800-829-4933.
The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday. An IRS representative will ask you for identifying information and provide the number to you over the telephone, as long as you are a person who is authorized to receive it. Examples of an authorized person include, but are not limited to, a sole proprietor, a partner in a partnership, a corporate officer, a trustee of a trust, or an executor of an estate.
